Chachapoyas - Gocta waterfall

Wednesday 27/6 - CHACHAPOYAS (day 2)
Hiking to the Gocta Waterfall in San Pablo.

That morning, there are plenty of taxis in front of the hotel,
awaiting their guests for the different excusions.

After 1.5 hours of taxi we find along the main road the plan for our hiking trail.

The dirt road for San Pablo brings us to the village, where they are preparing a fiesta.
Here we start the trail after paying the boleto (a ticket of 5 Soles, about 1.5€).

After 2.5 hours of speedy hiking in the tropical forest we get a first view on the waterfall,
ranked as the third highest of the world, impressive.

we reached the upper fall and couldn't go further because of the fog.

Back in the village, visit of the church, prepared for the celebration of the San Pablo.

Suddenly a man representing a bull appears on the square,
he gets excited by a red shirt.

Unfortunately we couldn't stay for the fiesta.

This was another nice excusion.  I like the nature and culture here and decide to stay another night, considering visiting a valey where there are still some Chachapoyas archophagus, another (short hiking tour organised by the hotel).
