Surin Elephant Breakfast

Friday 16/Nov/2012 - SURIN

Elephant festival in Surin.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Surin_Elephant_Round-up

Well equipped motorbike-taxi terminal.  Apart from the drivers.
I had to wait 15 minutes.  Indeed, Surin was very busy that day.

Grilled sausages?  No, grilled bananas.

First elephants seen in town.

First real elephant.  The elephant child just gave a sweet to his/her mother.

Fruit and vegetables for the elephant-buffet-breakfast.

Fruit and vegetables for the elephant-buffet-breakfast.

2km of elephant-buffet-breakfast
(Guinness book of records was present to inspect it).

The first breakfast hungry elephant arrives.

More follow.

And they start taking their breakfast.

People help them.

Then there is a parade.

Then tourist can make a ride on the elephants,
here with James Bond.

After a while it becomes a huge chaos.
So I decide to visit the commercial fair.

People start to grab from the left-overs of the elephant buffet.

No longer enjoyable.

Tursty?  Choose your color.

Marvelous carved wood garden furniture (lol).
The artist took my comments seriously and wanted to take my order.
For those of you interested, I got his business card...

???

These guys seem to call for a dentist.  Jeroen?

Now saturated by the elephants.

Restaurant kitchen at Surin's bus terminal.
Suddenly I became less hungry (my bus is just behind the stall).

Ordered just a Coca Cola in the restaurant, awaiting bus departure for Buriram.
And this what I got (the Coca Cola logo is OK on the other side).

The driver's cabin.  Feeling home, at least the driver does.
